Partnership and Progression at Lewisham College and LSBU

Friday, 05 March 2010 15:36

Partnership links between London South Bank University and Lewisham College have been promoted via new progression agreements negotiated by SELLLN. Martin Earwicker, the Vice Chancellor of London South Bank University, and Maxine Room, Principal of Lewisham College, signed a series of agreements for Computing and Business Studies courses.

Gill Carter and Sue Short from SELLLN, Mary Lawrence and Alun Hughes from the Faculty of Business at LSBU, and Kate Gibson and Sharon Muncie of Lewisham College were involved in negotiating the agreements, which will give mature students and 14-19 year olds studying vocational business and computing courses a unique opportunity to progress to higher education.

It will also give students the chance to visit LSBU to find out about university life and experience taster study activities, and staff from LSBU will visit the students at Lewisham College to encourage them to apply to higher education and offer advice and help where needed.

The Vice Chancellor of LSBU and the Principal of Lewisham College welcomed this opportunity to build on their partnership, and to continue to increase the participation in higher education of students from the college.

The new agreements build on the huge range of progression pathways already in place within SELLLN's network. For more information, visit our progression and credit page.
