Despite the adverse weather conditions students from SELLLN partner colleges made their way to the picturesque Greenwich Campus at the University of Greenwich on Tuesday 12 January 2010 to take part in a fun, hands on day looking at jobs in the legal sector after college or graduation.
At the end of November 2009, the network received very positive feedback from HEFCE on its monitoring report for 2008/9 and progress to date. HEFCE commended the network on the strong partnership between higher education and further education institutions: "partner commitment to the work of the network seems strong and productive" and also on the work which has been achieved with other London LLNs: "In particular, it was good to hear of the work that the pan-London LLNs have undertaken together in terms of staff development events."
A project part-funded by SELLLN has been highlighted in a news article on The Guardian website. The 'Applying to HE' Adviser's Certificate was developed for staff in schools and colleges who advise students on university applications.
Karen Morse is leaving SELLLN after three years as Director. She will be joining the Royal College of Nursing’s Learning and Development Institute in January, heading up the Enhancing Practice and Influencing team and the RCN’s consultancy service. Karen said:
